Text; 1 Cor 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
Intro: Preachers are often tempted to orate in such a manner that we may parade what WE know, but Paul gives us here, the secret of a successful ministry; 'Jesus Christ and Him crucified". Notice that he did NOT preach a dead Christ, but a LIVING Christ who had been crucified.
I. To really SEE the crucified Christ should make us particular in what we;
A. Say- witness of Him.
B. In the impression others get of us, as members of His body.
C. How we serve Him.
II. Let us see the crucified Christ in:
A. His Church.
Not the sacrifices WE might have made, but the price HE paid for her. Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
When you are lulled into thinking that all churches are the same, think of the crucified Christ!
B. In the faces of the lost around us, as we are reminded that he died to save sinners.
C. In every teaching of the Bible, and in every practice of His church.
Like spokes from the hub of the wheel they all radiate from the crucified Christ.
D. In every prophecy of future events. The Book of Revelation is NOT a collection of prophecies of future EVENTS, but a revealing of the work of the Crucified Christ.
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
1.He stood as a Lamb, slain--
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
2. As the slain lamb only He is worthy to open the book.
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
3. As the lamb, He is the light of the eternal city.
Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
III. He who is so important to the Father, must certainly be worthy of our worship and honor and obedience!
